Three people have been arrested in Glasgow following reports that a man was abducted in the Maryhill area of the city.

Police attended a flat in the Wyndford Road area on Thursday, 27 August, moving quickly after the alarm was initially raised regarding the incident.

The vital news here is that the man at the centre of the alert was later traced safe and well, providing immediate relief after what was clearly a fast-moving situation for the emergency services.

Following their arrival at the Wyndford Road property, officers arrested three individuals in connection with the report: two men, aged 55 and 48, and a 31-year-old woman.

If you live in or around that part of Maryhill, you will have noticed a visible police presence, as officers stood guard and remained stationed in the area while initial enquiries got underway.

Confirming the details of the operation, a Police Scotland spokesperson explained: "On Thursday, 27 August, 2026, two men - aged 55 and 48 and a 31-year-old woman were arrested in connection with a report of abduction in the Maryhill area of Glasgow. A man was later traced safe and well."

The spokesperson went on to explain why officers are maintaining a visible presence in the community, adding: "Enquiries remain ongoing. Officers will remain in the area while this investigation continues and anyone with any concerns, or information, should speak with them."

Now, to be entirely transparent about what we do not know yet: police have not disclosed the specific circumstances surrounding how the reported abduction took place, how the man was located, or whether formal charges have been brought against any of the three people detained.

What we do know is that Police Scotland are keeping their focus firmly on the local area, ensuring that officers remain on the ground to speak with residents who may have concerns or information about the incident.

For local residents who saw anything unusual around Wyndford Road on Thursday, police are encouraging you to approach the officers currently in the neighbourhood and pass along whatever you know.

I'll be following this one and keeping track of any further developments or statements from Police Scotland — check back for updates.
