What we collect, in plain language
- If you just read the site: nothing identifies you to us.
Optional analytics (Google Analytics 4) run in cookieless mode until you
accept analytics cookies via the consent bar; if you accept, Google sets
the
_gacookies to count visits. You can change your choice any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer. - If you comment without an account: the name you type and your comment, until deleted.
- If you join as a member: your email address, display name, a securely hashed password (we never see or store the password itself), your newsletter preference, and your comments and likes. Sign-in uses one strictly-necessary cookie, which needs no consent.
- If you attach an image to a comment: the image, held for moderation before it can appear.
How it's used and kept
Data is used only to run the site: publishing comments you write, operating your account, and (with consent) understanding what people read. We never sell or share personal data. Comments and accounts are kept until you delete them; you can delete your account yourself from your account page — past comments then show as "Former member", and you can ask us to remove those too.
Processors
Cloudflare (hosting), Google Analytics (optional, consent-based analytics), and — when the newsletter launches — an email provider, which this page will name before the first send.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for corrections or deletion, and complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if unhappy with our answer.
