A woman in her eighties has died after being struck by a car in a supermarket car park in Hampshire on Friday afternoon.

Hampshire Police confirmed that officers were called to the Morrisons store situated on Walpole Road in Gosport at six minutes past twelve, following reports of a serious collision.

According to information provided to the police, a grey Kia Soul was driven directly into the supermarket car park before colliding with two pedestrians.

The vehicle also struck several other vehicles during the incident, hitting both parked cars and moving traffic across the car park area.

Emergency services attended the Walpole Road site, but the woman in her eighties was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A second person who was involved in the collision reported minor injuries following the incident.

Hampshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding what took place.

Officers are reviewing CCTV from around the car park and following other lines of enquiry. The force said: "We will be reviewing CCTV and other lines of enquiry, but would also like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant dash cam footage."

Anyone who was in the area at the time or who holds footage that could assist the investigation is being asked to come forward. The force added: "If you have any information, please call 101 quoting reference 44260407128."

Investigators will continue to piece together the sequence of events as they examine the scene and review available footage. I'll be following this one.
