Former BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra DJ Tim Westwood has been charged with two more sexual offences, the Metropolitan Police and Crown Prosecution Service have confirmed.

The new allegations concern separate non-recent incidents in London. According to police, they comprise an alleged indecent assault against a teenage girl aged 16 to 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991, and the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in 2004.

These additional charges add to the existing legal proceedings against the 68-year-old. In total, Westwood is now facing 17 charges relating to nine women.

To give you the full context of the case so far, Westwood was charged in October 2025 in relation to seven women. Those earlier 15 charges comprise nine counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault, and four counts of rape, relating to reported incidents between 1983 and 2016.

Westwood has denied all allegations of wrongdoing. He appeared at Southwark Crown Court in December relating to those initial 15 charges, where he formally pleaded not guilty.

Catherine P Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor in CPS London, explained the decision behind the new counts: "Today the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised two further charges of sexual assault and indecent assault against Tim Westwood."

She added: "These new charges, following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police, relate to separate reports of non-recent offences in 1991 and 2004 involving two additional women. Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring these additional charges to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue further criminal proceedings."

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, from the Metropolitan Police Service, spoke about the support being offered to those involved. "The women who have made reports have placed their trust in us, and we remain committed to providing them with all available support," he said, adding that independent help is available through Rape Crisis via its 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.

What we do not know yet is the specific date for Westwood's initial hearing on these two latest counts. The Metropolitan Police have stated only that he is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court at a future date in relation to them.

A trial concerning the original 15 charges is already scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on 25 January 2027.
