Three more men have been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of Masum Miah in east London, bringing the total number of suspects charged in the case to four.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Wednesday that 18-year-old Leonel Friman Intasse, of High Street, Sittingbourne, Renars Ludins, 47, of no fixed address, and Mihai Stancu, 36, of Charlton Crescent, Barking, have each been charged with murder.

To look at how this case developed, we have to go back to the early hours of 18 August. Emergency services were alerted to St Bartholomew’s Road in Newham at around 3am after members of the public reported hearing gunshots in the street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Masum Miah inside a car suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of emergency crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court appearances have now been scheduled at the Old Bailey for all three of the newly charged men. Intasse is due to appear at the central criminal court on 25 September, while Ludins and Stancu are scheduled to appear at the same court on 17 May 2027.

These latest charges follow an earlier arrest in the investigation. Officers had previously charged 40-year-old Sergiu Leahu, who is of no fixed address, with murder in connection with the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten, who is leading the investigation for the Met, highlighted the ongoing impact on the victim's relatives. He said: “Our thoughts remain with Masum’s family as they come to terms with his tragic death.”

DCI Whitten added that detectives are still working to gather all available evidence from that night. “We are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that could assist our enquiries to come forward,” he said.

What we don't know yet are the specific events that led up to the shooting inside the vehicle, or the full details of the evidence that will be placed before the court. Under English law, all four men maintain the presumption of innocence until the allegations are tested at trial.
